Based on analyzing electric power steering system structure and its dynamical characteristics, the mathematical model was established, an integral optimal variable structure mode controller was designed to eliminate system chattering. Neural network was also used to eliminate the influence of the system uncertainties and enhance the system robustness. Simulation results showed that the control method is correct and effective.
